WHAT I HATE ABOUT FANATICS

There seems to be a revival of the rivalry between the top two comic publishers in the US today: and I am not talking about the comics that they produce. When before they will only talk about which produces much better comics now comes, they now fight in another grand arena: The Movies.

Yup, the movies. With DC Comics having their own cinematic universe, it's no wonder why DC fans are suddenly up in arms and are going crazy as their favorite heroes are getting the cinematic treatment. When before they were a series of movies focusing only on a few heroes, this time they gave them more than what they wanted. They just brought their big guns to the screen. They wanted a movie about their heroes, and they are not content with the movies of their rivals. The movies then came, and though they were successful financially, most of them were panned by critics.   

This is where the fanaticism happened. DC Comics fans were suddenly up in arms defending their heroes. They would say that it was unfair that review sites like rotten tomatoes gave very low scores thus it didn't achieve it's target box office marks. They blame Marvel fans, movie critics for the failure of the films. For them, there is nothing wrong with the films.

My beef with these people is that if you liked it, then it's fine. Honestly, I only watched one of these films, and never watched the others because I have given being a fan of this thing a long time ago. I have more things to do than to see two fans from both sides bicker who is much better among these two. Both are good, and they both have their redeeming qualities. They are really a case of "apples and oranges". Here's my take, and read carefully of you've made it this far before you comment. Else, stop reading and quit!

Still with me? Good. When I was still a fan, I only read Marvel Comics. I started out with them. I liked the stories and the artwork. For me Marvel was supreme. However,as my tastes for comics matured, I tried and read from different publishers. There was even a point that I only read DC Comics. As a Marvel fan, I also enjoyed their stories. I never made comparisons of their works. A friend of mine said that this particular creator was much better at DC  than Marvel without actually reading about his work at Marvel (note he is a DC guy). So read it first before you compare!!!  Another one said that Spider-man sucks as a character, even comparing him to Batman, which again are "apples and oranges".  See, they are all different. There are both good and bad works. Let's just learn to accept that. Problem is, we always want that our choice is the best one and the others are lesser. That's what I hate about fanaticism.

I am not just hitting on the DC fans, but even Marvel fans as well. Grow-up. Do you think that I even care if my college men's basketball team wins a championship or not? What if I also tell you that we are just given an illusion of choice just because we are in a capitalist state? Ok, that's a topic for the next blog. As a former Marvel fan, I watch Lucifer Season 1 and Arrow Season 6 on tv, whcih are by the way, DC properties. I am also anticipating Avengers: Infinity War next year. Stop being a fan of just one thing, and try to be diverse.

WHAT CHRISTMAS ACTUALLY MEANS TO ME NOW

As we near what we call the holiday season, there is a joy and amazement in everyone's eyes. Everywhere around you, people are really very happy, anxious at the coming event. There's also the rush, when people buy new things to replace the old ones, and also partake of the feast of food that will be shared with close family and friends. Since there is an excess, more people also share to those that don't have a lot. Like they say, everybody happy.

As I converted to the Christian faith, the real meaning of Christmas also changed. People will always be saying to "put Christ back in Christmas", as the commercialization of Christmas happens. Some people, thinks that Christmas is a pagan holiday and should not be participated in by real Christians since this holiday has similarities to the Saturnalia. So it's just fine for Christians to say" Bah! Humbug!!" like the famous character of Scrooge. So, Who is correct?

At first, I really want to do away with the holidays. If this is really a pagan holiday and not actually Christ's birthday, then we are partaking of a pagan practice. We are not anyway different from the people that are not saved. Why celebrate the birth of our Messiah on the day that is not really his birthday? If I have an excess, I will just possibly treat this like how the American's have thanksgiving. I will just give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for providing for my family and helping us all year round. That's my initial plan.

However, there was an article that I have read about Christmas. That with all the symbolizations and parallels to Saturnalia, they are of a different nature. See, in Saturnalia, they go around singing naked in different houses and they overindulge in wine and other worldly things. We don't do that in Christmas. See, it is Satan, the so called god of this world that perverted the meaning of Christmas. Instead of focusing on the real reason for Christmas, we focus on the material aspects of it. The decorations, the new things, the abundant food, and we forgot about the real reason why he came into this world. 

Some people may argue that it's just fine considering that he really wasn't born on December 25th.  But we are missing the point. Last Sunday, the youth and children of our church held a Christmas musical called " The Best Christmas Ever". Before the musical, our guest speaker Pastor Leal Ibanez told us why there is a Christmas. It was because of us. See, Jesus Christ was born in this world to redeem us of our sins. He loved us so much that he does not want us to perish. Does it really matter if Jesus Christ was really born on that date? It left me pondering. Then as the presentation went on, I saw myself as like one of the lead characters who dismissed the real meaning of Christmas. Now I know. It's not about the date, but the real purpose why he came in to this world. If we can know deep within our hearts the real meaning of Christmas, then we can now bring Christ back into the holidays.

Thanks to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ in Marikina Fundamental Bible Baptist Church and to Pastor Leal Ibanez for giving me "The Best Christmas Ever". I have already recieved my gift. I pray that you too as well.

HOLLYWOOD'S WOES

This is like the second year that I have not been to a movie theater to watch a good movie; with my kid growing up and financial woes being the reasons. But you know, I don't miss much of it. If most of you are thinking that it's because these movies can be watched online, then think again.

Before the age of the internet, movie theaters were a thing of magic. It transports the viewers to new worlds that capture our imagination. It gives us an escape in a world that is not our own. Movies can be original material or adopted from another form of media. That was before. Now, it's kind of going awray.

See, the current crop (or crap) of movies have just been catered to make money. Yes, technology have us the best special effects that makes these movies an eyecatcher, but some if most are lacking in real content. Yes, I mean it. Even the big blockbusters lack content, just focusing on very big events and of course fire works display. Some franchises are just there for no apparent reason (Fifty Shades, which just promotes sex). Some are there just to promote a specific agenda. Still others, I don't know. The point of movies entertaining is just gone now.

Now a lot of you wold say that three movies for this year crossed the 1 billion dollar mark, with big franchises like Star Wars and Justice League still not being shown. But here's the deal. In the Summer Blockbuster, the total gross is only $3,774,412,485 for 245 movies. There's a drop of more than 15.2% in last years gross. Which simple means that there are more movies that bombed than those that actually grossed. Like for every Wonder Woman or Spider-Man: Homecoming there are failures like Transformers,Cars or even Pirates of the Carribean. Again, these are domestic figures, but how will this affect us as a whole?   

Movies rely on ticket sales to further make more movies. If a movie busts, then the studios lose money. This can lead to potential future projects to be scrapped or put on hold. The main money making time is the summer. But if more movies lose money than actually making money, then there is a problem here. It seems to me that people in Hollywood only focused on the money movies rather than the entertaiment part. See, almost all movies now have the same theme:superheroes, established franchises, sequels, prequels,novels and so on. There seemed to be no more original movies. The only movie that peaked my interest this year was Dunkirk.

Hollywood needs to go back to it's roots of making good movies. Hire more creative writers to come up with original Hollywood movies. Also, if an adaptation is needed, be more faithful to it. Directors and producers also need to hone their craft. They should not only go for movies that will just sell, but will sell and be remembered for their content. The there's Weistein and the #METOO campaign. This will further dampen Hollywood as it is.

A LETTER TO MY DAUGHTER

Dear Pia,

By Saturday, November 18, 2017 you will be three years old. Time really flew so fast. I am really amazed at how you grew up so fast before our eyes. Yes, our life was never the same since then. You became the source of our inspiration and joy in our humble family.

Most kids your age may invite friends over or have a party. As you know, we can't afford those things now. We are only living within our needs,and we mostly don't have extras. We may just have a simple meal at home. Possibly, have mommy make you a cake. It makes me sad,knowing that I really can't give more for this event.

One thing we pray for is that you continue to be a good daughter. It makes us very happy when you will dance and sing songs of praise to your real father,Jesus!!! More than money and education, this is the only thing that we as parents can give you. I remember my mother (your grandmother) telling me that Jesus is my real parent, and that we are representatives of Jesus here on earth. That does not mean that you will not follow us, but for us to teach about him for you to abide in his love. This will make you a much better person when you grow up.

If me and mommy scolds you, it is for your own good. It's really nice that you now learn to say sorry. It also hurts us, but as the book of Proverbs say that we should correct your ways so that you won't go astray. But beyond that, it really makes us happy that you are always smiling. It relieves our stress and makes us feel that God really made us into a family.

We may not have a lot of material things, but the love is in there. Remember that Daddy and Mommy loves you, as well as your grandparents,uncles, aunts, cousins and of course your brothers and sisters in the faith.I pray that the Lord increase our lives to see you grow up. May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you more blessings on your special day.

ONE SHOT STORIES: THE BEST OF STORYTELLING

Ever so often,people always love a series of stories. Whether they are books, television programs and movies, people can't get enough of them. Just imagine, how many books are there in the Harry Potter series, or how many seasons/episodes there are in Game of Thrones? Movie series' are also a commonplace, as Star Wars, being one of the oldest movie franchises, having a series of movies. But though these are enjoyable ones, I guess the best stories as what we call as One-Shots. From the definition itself, these are self contained stories that are complete on it's own.

Why do I consider them the best? Simply a series or serial clogs the market with a glut of material. Since these stories were meant to be continued, the writer has to be more creative with the process. Thus there will be parts of the series that are good, then some not really good. Let's take Game of Thrones. Season One really got me hooked into the series, as a new form of storytelling really captivated me. However, I quit the series at around season 3 since I found some parts of the series already boring. Same thing as with movies. Was it necessary for us to continue Star Wars, knowing that the first trilogy was really a great movie series? Seems that Disney just wants to cash in on the purchase of Lucas Films IMHO.

See, with one-shots, the writers can cut loose and concentrate on a well written story. The stories will have a definite end, and be complete in itself without a need for a sequel. In my opinion, it leaves the audience full already. A good example id the Christopher Nolan film Inception. The movie fills you with a solid ending. No more need for a next film. His current movie Dunkirk also may fit the bill.

Some people may think that one-shots are a failure since it does not have any continuation. In a world where we want serials, these type of stories may not fit the bill. As a longtime comic fan, stories like Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland, Frank Miller's Elektra Lives Again, and in television,APT Entertainment Lenten Specials. For me, it brings out the best in almost all aspects.

In closing, I guess that it will be much better that the entertaiment industry focuses on one-shots or specials. This will leave the fans mmroe fulfilled with a movie, television or even in print.

ACCEPTING MY AGE

It's hard to believe that I am already an old guy. Well, I am 44 years old as of this writing. As I viewed my face, I already saw lines and wrinkles on my face. I have gained weight, and noticed my stamina not as good as it was during my prime years. Not to mention having a beautiful two year old daughter and a loving and beautiful 34 year old wife of nine years now. I also haven't changed jobs, being an Online English Teacher for same years as my marriage.

I look back, and I didn't regret being an old guy. See, the current millenial society treats old people differently. They see them as weak and useless already in society. They always want to look forever young. But I degrest.

I was born in the 1970's, at the time that my country is under Martial Law. I have a very excellent childhood, having to play with toys and watch TV (anime mecha was our favorite). There's also the trip to the store to buy candy, going to church on Sundays (I was raised Catholic), and even going to Luneta Park and even Quiapo. Never mind Martial Law, since as a kid back then I don't care about it. Life was simple back then.

We moved to Marikina City in the late 1980's and studied high school here. The EDSA Revolution happened, as well as a series of coup-de-etats. Growing up, cartoons became more of a background. Girls, crushes, New Wave music, American Pop music became my interests. There's also the NCEE test. I met a lot of wonderful people. High school specially my senior year became one of the happiest moments in my life. I sometimes shed a tear just recalling those days.

The 1990's saw a slightly older version of me studying AB Political Science at Far Eastern University in the city of Manila. There, I met more people,but unlike my high school days they were very different from me. I never got along with most of them. I also experienced my first setback in life:not being able to finish my Law studies, only managing a first year. A year of unemployment became a career as a teacher. I was still quite young being a teacher. That was the time I realized that the children of the 1990s are very different from us. Still, four school years toughned me. Also, I started my comic book collection as well as became an avid reader of almost anything. There was also a boom in television programs and music. This was also the golden years of anime.

As the millenium entered, I got into the Business Process Outsourcing market. Very far locations and schedules really took it's toll on my mind and body. Despite that, it was here where I met my wife. We got married in 2008 and we started living by ourselves in 2009, eventually leaving Marikina City. My marriage is a series of ups and downs, but it was a really happy one. Only problem is struggling with having children.

By 2014, me and my wife had our first child. My daughter was born on November 18 at 5:30 pm. It was joy for both of us. However, since my wife had to take care of our kid, I was left alone to work. Financial troubles led us to leave Pasig and go back to Marikina in June 2015. We are still living there.

Time really moved so fast for me. My daughter is now two years old,and I have been married and working for the same company for 9 years now. Lines have been in my face. I have eye bags and dark circles in my eyes. But you know, I am happy. Those 40 plus years that the Lord has given me, I never regretted. If I will choose the year that I will be born, I will still choose the 1970's. I still yearn for the simple life that I grew with. I loved the life experiences, whether they are good or bad. I loved the people I met. And I am happy with my life. Wrinkles, lines, weight gain, they are all a part of being old. But the knowledge and wisdom and life experiences that come with it is something that I will never trade.

HOW CURRENT ENTERTAINMENT SHAPES OUR SOCIETY

I don't open our television that much these days. I don't know why, but I felt something different from what they are showing these days. It's as if I correlate the latest news and the fictional television programs, there's really no difference. Are we actually living in a world that is based on the television? This question ponders me a lot.

The Philippine entertainment system in my opinion has not changed a bit since my childhood days. The bulk of mainstream films are mostly comedies or romance movies featuring the same faces. It's like it never took off. It's like when these actors aged they are just replaced with younger faces, but the same theme. Different zebra, same stripes. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

One thing I noticed about the shows on television is the constant promotion of the LGBT agenda. I'm just a bit fed up with this. See, in almost every show there seemed to be a gay character. There was even one show wherein a straight guy played a transgender for almost four months. Before I was a convert, I lauded this show. Now, I feel different about it. Also, the top comedians on television right now are gay. It feels like they have trampled straight men here. And to think that we have an award for a box office king. How will we award him. There's also a gay talk show host that will always use a mirror as a symbol. If I were you I'd look in the mirror first and tell yourself that " I am a man". How's that?

A lot of shows also contain sexuality, some partial nudity and shows that feature adultery became popular. Is this our society right now? I mean, what's next, child pornography and pedophilia? The so called Catholic Church, who is supposed to be the one against these agendas, are now plagued with sex scandals. I have just recently come across the news of a priest picking up a 13 year old girl being prostituted by a pimp. Before they were the first ones protect our morals, now they themselves are becoming culprits. No wonder many babies being born are being abandoned.

There's also the instant celebrity status. People in this country just love being in the spotlight. When news of a certain girl dubsmashing (lip-sync in layman's tongue) suddenly became very popular, many people wanted to be like her. It's like if her accidental rise happened, then there could be a possibility that it could happen to them or you as well. Reality talent shows try to create instant celebrities. Most of them got there because of their heritage. Thus they create videos, or posts in social media, just to get that needed attention. They want the big life, the attention and praise of a lot of people. Over the course of time however, the elite keeps pushing these people down our throats. And we are very glad to accept them, hoping one day be like them. I just got sick of it.

This is the world that we live in. When I was young gays are in hiding, there is a strict standard in shows and celebrities work hard for their roles. Now, with media promoting these things, no wonder there's no difference between the reel world and the real world. It's cross between the Matrix and Inception.

If I am dreaming, Please wake me up.

IT'S RAINING!!!

As I write hos blog today, it is about 8:15 am PST (Philippine Standard Time). I am here in the office and it is raining very hard outside. As I peaked in the window of the 29th floor of where I am, I can see the rain battering down on the streets. As usual, it's a very wet day, there's a lot of traffic, and it look like 5 pm outside. I wish I were at home just sleeping this through.

I hate the rainy season. Here in the Philippines, it brings not only floods that kills people, but it also brings traffic jams and a very difficult time to go home. Last 2009, as me and my wife were living in another city, a strong typhoon caused massive flooding in the city of Marikina (the city where I grew up), taking a lot of lives and damaging property. In the place we moved, we were not spared either (we are safe since we were renting on the 8th floor), as flooding also destroyed property. It has been like this since.

It has been raining for almost 3 days now. This is a nightmare specially for those people who are going to be washing clothes. Not to mention it's not even safe to go outside. Also, power interruptions can happen at any moment.

But all of these can be solved with a hot cup of coffee, some soup, and warm baked bread. A book, or comic book in hand, snuggled in a warm bed with my wife and kid. Now that beats the rainy day blues!!! Also, God cleans the world of impurities. He washes the world of the pollution that we cause. Yes, he does it using rain. Love it of hate it, God gives us rain.

HOW CODE GEASS SHOWS US HOW THE ANTI-CHRIST WILL COME

First, this anime series struck me the most. Before my conversion, this is for me one of the best anime series of all time. It tells the story of a boy named Lelouch Lamperouge, a normal boy who gained powers known as Geass, a power of the word. Simply put it, the Geass embedded in his eye makes the people that sees and hears him follow everything that he says.

From a humble student, he now ascends to a leader of a rebel group bent on fighting a major world empire (Great Britain), to free those oppressed. In the end, he succeeds and becomes emperor of the entire world, taking out all his opponents and even his old allies. This cost him his life, as the world now lives in peace thanks to the efforts that he made.

But beyond the great animation, done by Sunrise and character designs by CLAMP studios, great storyline and superb voice acting,the story has some biblical undertones which can be attributed to the coming of the Ant-Christ here on earth.

Parallels will indicate otherwise. CC, the green haired girl that gave the Geass to Lelouch can be attributed as the False Prophet of the Revelation. In the Book of Revelation Chapter 13 it tells of the coming of the False Prophet, who will "...causeth the earth and them therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed (verse 12)". The previous verses also tells that the false prophet creates wonders to deceive the world, to create and image of the beast, to give life to this image, and for everyone to worship it (verses 14-16). Now, anime fans will say CC didn't do all these things, but a closer analysis reveals otherwise. Lelouch was normal college student before the Geass was passed on to him. So whatever actions Lelouch did while under the Geass, though for most part he acted on himself, was still caused by the actions of CC. Try reading the bible and watch the series again.

If CC is the False Prophet, then Lelouch is definitely the Ant-Christ. Still, in the Book of Revelation Chapter 13, The False Prophet gives a command to make an image of the beast, while he gives life to the image of the beast, and commands everyone to worship the image of the beast, that caused many that would not worship him will be killed (verses 14-15). Lelouch fits this mark as the Geass gives him the ability that anyone follows his commands. Those in opposition will die as a result. His first use of the Geass was when he freed CC and used it on the soldiers or guards to kill themselves. When he became the Emperor of the world, he was about to execute his old allies, The order of the Black Knights, he was killed by ZERO (Suzaku) in order to establish peace in the whole world. Wait, he dies a hero and still the Anti-Christ? We don't know if the peace that he established will be lasting, as plans for a Season 3 occurs. Still one man with a lot of power controlling the entire world seems very much likely that he is the Anti-Christ.No one man can wield that much power. Incidentally, the Geass is his Mark.

Now, the Geass. It's a power of the word, in which it lights up in one of his eyes, and whatever he commands will be followed by the people. Of course, it's none other than the old serpent Satan himself. Yes, he is the one behind the False Prophet and the Anti-Christ. He manipulates people, and he uses deception and blasphemies. The power of Satan's word makes those that are weak willed follow whatever he says. This is the power that the Geass possesses. Though we may see that it is used by the main character for good, still there was a lot of blood,death and destruction that it caused.

I have been wanting to write this for a long time, but I guess I have to write it now since there is already a teaser trailer for Season 3 (entitled Lelouch of the Resurrection). Will I watch it? Definitely, but I will also look for signs and symbols that will give us more hints. Please take note that this is not written to make bad light of the show. It is written because they are already showing us how he will come and rule over this world. Until then, let us keep in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

NO MORE KING JAMES BIBLES IN BOOKSTORES?

I need to buy a new King James Bible for my wife since my kid accidentally tore off her bible. She is missing pages and the covers. I told her that it would be very easy since the bible has been available in bookstores. I then told her that if we have some extra money, we will buy one.

I searched in the major bookstores, and to my surprise, there are very few to no more KJV Bibles. I was shocked at this discovery!! I can see other bible versions, specially the NIV, but very few KJV bibles. What could be the reason?

I guess that most bookstores think that the KJV is a very old bible. It is outdated thus not being used by most people these days. Some people rely on the modern day versions which are easier to understand. Like they say, this bible is so old that it may already be passe' to some people. It's the only bible used that has been published in the 1600's. The point also that this bible is written in old English, thus making it difficult to understand. But what is the significance of the KJV of the bible?      
 
The King James Bible is God's preserved word. This bible was able to escape the being phased out. Just like the saying" An oldie, but still a goodie". When most old things either end up in antique shops or junk shops, this bible didn't. Even when modern day versions of bibles came out, The King James Bible is still being used today. That is why there is such a movement as KJV Only. Never heard of an ESV or NIV or NLT movement.

Sadly, Satan through the major corporations are little by little controlling even the bible publications. They may come a time that the KJV will be phased out to favor modern day translations which have missing verses. I pray that I can still buy some KJV bibles (around 3 or more) before it's too late.

THE TROJAN HORSE

Most of us are already aware of the story of the Trojan Horse. The tale is found in the Odyssey of Homer where is gave the Greeks victory over the Trojans. Today, there are many things related to the Trojan Horse. But what does it really mean for today?

As we all know, a Trojan Horse is something that we think is good, but entirely is not what it seemed. It is a device meant to fool our eyes. It will be presented in something grand or beautiful on the outside, thus we will lower down our defenses and accept it. However, it is a snare and it now meant to catch us off guard.  Christianity has some known Trojan Horses, and we have to be very careful with them. Please heed my warnings on this topic, and look out for signs:

1.)  The Prosperity Gospel- yup, get rich here on earth. This type of gospel encourages us to live very prosperously here on earth because God wants it. In this type of gospel, Christians are encouraged to pursue material wealth more than God. Think of it like the "Get Rich Quick" schemes that Pyramiding Companies do. Also, let us not for get what our Lord Jesus Christ told us about having earthly treasures. Matthew 6: 19-21 says"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. "

2.) Modern day Translation of Bibles- I am  King James Bible only advocate. I know that this is the best translation of the bible since it has been used since 1611. Some people say other things about it, and that the modern day translations were much easier to understand since the language it was written in was Old English. True enough, modern day bible translations have watered down the importance of our Lord Jesus Christ by changing some words or omitting them altogether. They are giving a very soft version of Christianity. No wonder the Christians of today are far more softer than those of old. In one bible study I attended, one brother even said that the early Christians did not have any bill problems (electric,water,internet, phone, etc.) unlike us today. I rebuked him that even though that's the case, they can't meet or study the scripture openly. These modern day translations are the bibles that will be used when the Anti-Christ comes. Yes, I believe that the King James bible will be outlawed, thus I will be purchasing copies of this bible for my family. I know that this is God's divine word. 

3.) Churches with Female Pastors-yes, I used  belonged in one of them. See, in my early years as a Christian I didn't understand the bible fully, thus I thought that this will be just fine. As I studied the bible and asked guidance from the Holy Spirit, I found out that I was doing a wrong worship. It hit me right on the face!! The apostle Paul gave us an outline in his letter to Timothy. In 1 Timothy 2:12 he said "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence".  There's a reason why this commandment is given. Thus I left the church, not only because of that, but the church has many doctrines that can't be found in the bible. There's also the danger of Jezebel (please research this further). 
                  
4.) A watered down Christianity-all of these things leads to a watered down version of Christianity. These were not the same Christians of old that were willing to die for Jesus Christ. Gone are the Hell Fire and Brimstone teachings that tell about hell, sin and salvation. Right now, most Christians became soft and even tolerant of earthly issues. They softened the gospel, and Pastors teach only what the people want to hear, about being rich and how God loves us thus he wants us to have mansions and luxury cars. This type of Christianity is the one that is ready to accept the mark of beast.

Be careful of these Trojan Horses. They may look good on the outside, but they will cause destruction to you once you let them in your lives. Just as the Greeks were able to route the Trojans while they sleep, the same thing they will do to you. When you see these signs, get out of them, pray hard to our Lord and read the correct bible. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in the correct path to God.

BLOWING OFF STEAM

Hi! This post is just meant to blow off some steam. My last post in this blog took a lot from me. I guess I better make some posts about some light topics, else going down too far the rabbit hole may burn me up that I can't write anymore. Anyway, here are some comic book slugfests that I like. Hint: SPOILERS COMING.

STAR WARS TALES #9

5.) Star Wars Tales # 9 (Published by Dark Horse Comics, Written by Ron Marz and Drawn by Rick Leonardi and Terry Austin)

The cover says it all. Yes, it is the baddest Sith Lords duking it out. For what, bragging rights? Who wore black better? Who has a longer light saber? Yup, this is a classic battle of baddies wherein a Sith cult lures Darth Vader to a trap. They want to kill him and to be replaced with a clone of Darth Maul. The lightsaber duel is really great, with a lot of twists, turns and flashes of light . But who really won? The one wearing black, obviously.

4.) Hulk Vs Pitt (Published by Marvel Comics, Written by Peter David and Drawn by Dale Keown and Dan Panosian) 

Welcome to the WWE.......errrr......UFC.......err no holds barred fight of two of the baddest guys in comics. With muscles pumping, faces grunting, this battle takes mayhem and destruction to a whole new level. This main event features Marvel's green goliath battling an alien with claws and a chain. In the ensuing destruction, they even have the time to play football. And who stopped their rampage, a small kid? Wow, anyway, it's nice to see the Hulk face someone as big as him. Oh, by the way, bowling everyone?

ULTRAFORCE/AVENGERS 

 
3.) Ultraforce/Avengers (Published by Malibu Comics, Written by Warren Ellis and Drawn by George Perez with Paul Neary and Ken Branch)

A merry Marvel mix-up. Yup. This is a crossover book between the Avengers and Ultraforce, The Ultraverse superteam. See, this story rings of wide spread carnage. The story begins with the death of Hank Pym, and a rampage by a very lunatic (and smelly looking Loki). The Avengers and Ultraforce teams take him down (with the Wasp aka Black Widow edging them). Suddenly, everything went blank and they converge to the source of the matter:NEMESIS. A video game console (no not the SEGA GENESIS), NEMESIS!!! She is so powerful that she kills them all in 2 pages then defeats her by having the Black Knight Slice her main Gem. This is a great book with solid storytelling and a great art. If you can pick it up, I suggest you do. Picked it up in a bargain box.

2.) Deathmate Black (Published by Image Comics, Written by Eric Silvestri and Brandon Choi and Drawn by Marc Silvestri, Greg Capullo, Jim Lee among others)

This book is really a piece of eye candy. All of the great artists here converge in a tale about death. Yup, there's a lot of body count in this book. Just in the initial pages, almost the entire Gen 13 was wiped out. Then there's the duel between the two indians (they didn't use axes by the way. And, what's up with Turok? He the Lone Ranger or Something!). Anyway, if thought Voodoo of the Wild C.A.T.S wore only her stripper costume, better check her attire here. Grrrrrr! Anyway, one of the best scenes her is when the rebels stormed the Troika's(weird name for a tyrant group. More of a singing band) home base. Carnage ensures here, specially when GunSlinger and Superstar of the H.A.R.D Corps short each others shields out, easily taking down two others with them. The carnage doesn't end here, as Warblade skewers Ripclaw and Union disables Mother May 1. One of the best books in the series, thus making number two.

PREDATOR VS MAGNUS , ROBOT FIGHTER , #1-2


 

  1.)  Predator vs Magnus, Robot Fighter, #1-2 (Published by Dark Horse Comics, Written by Jim Shooter and John Ostander and Drawn by Lee Weeks with Cover Painting by Barry Windsor-Smith)

I have never read any Magnus books by Valiant until I got hold of this. This was a rare gem if a book. See, in the distant future the Predator has been looking for a prize and it seemed that it fell in the hands of Magnus. The confrontation leads to be a surprising one! If Batman needed an armor to defeat the Predator, to quote Magnus saying " I am a weapon" is no exaggeration. Though he was about to have his head cut off  (because he was caught in a net), some people bugged the Predator thus he was able to escape. What followed is a classic David and Goliath match, only David does not have sling, only his fists. Magnus gutted the Predator's weapons and and even his ugly mug. This just proves that when you can gut robots in half (Optimus Prime, Run!!!!!), you can beat the crap out of an alien. Anyway, with him being a winner, he was awarded a ring by the other Predators. A Ring only!!! To which he threw away. Now i am trying to read his early Valiant adventures.

So there. Anyway, why were these books here? Because I got all of them in bargains. See, there is gold in junk. My shift is about to end, I am exhausted and just can't wait to go home. Hope you all have a nice and restful weekend. God bless all of you!!!

THE FALL OF MEN (AS IN MEN, NOT MAN)

Society will always relate to men as the strong guardians, fathers, soldiers and leaders of the country. They are strong, quick witted, otherwise role models for their children. They work to keep a roof on their family, and most of all, they lead their family in worship. Yes, men are the ones that heads us all. Grandfathers, fathers, older brothers, sons, etc. That was before.

Now before people label me here as a bigot or hatemonger, know that I am posting my opinion on this topic based on my observations and careful research. This post is by no means belittling women or any third sex. If you feel offended by it, then by all means don't just read it. I don't want to hear nasty comments or flagging this blog as hateful. Again, this is my personal take on the matter. I don't care what is yours.

With that out of the way, let's focus on the two things that made me do the title. First off, it's THE GAY AGENDA. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. See, this thing is getting out of hand. I have been itching to write about this a long time now. This stupid agenda clearly portrays men in a different light. Add to that the media keeps pumping them. Look at the state of media in our country. Every show has a gay character! The most popular stars are gay!!! Sheesh!!! No wonder my TV is off. Now you may ask why? You think I will raise Sodom and Gomorrah again? No!! We all read the story of creation, of how the first man was created. Since he does not have a mate, God made him sleep, and took a rib from him and fashioned a woman. Thus, man seeks woman not only to procreate but to be made whole again. Yes, the woman is our missing rib. That is why we leave our parents to be one with our wife, to be one. Being a gay man eliminates the need to have a female mate in our lives. See, if we take a man to be our other half, with him also having a missing rib, then how will you be complete? Still, something will be missing, as again in the rule of magnets" likes repel, opposites attract". Both of you right now will be incomplete. See, the logic here is that women are created to be our life long partners, to share God's kingdom. They will also carry our seed to multiply the earth.

Which brings me to the second thing: THE FEMINIST MOVEMENT. Yes, and now you will then hit me because you said you love women. Well, the feminist agenda gives women equal rights as men to in society. They can now do what men can do, even better. Right after they give birth, most of them wanted to have careers since they are in direct competition with men. Some of them even wanted to subvert men, or simply forget about men. In my previous blog about Wonder Woman, I defined the roles that women would play in society. They are to be mothers to their children and to be submissive to their husbands. It's ok for women to have careers when they are single or married but don't have kids yet. But when they have children it is their duty to take care of them and leave their jobs. Now, there are women today that don't want to get married anymore. They wanted a career for themselves and does not want to have children anymore because their bodies will be ruined. Society will praise them. But of course, at the end of the day, women will still be lesser than men because she is created out of man and committed the man to sin. Remember Queen Jezebel? Compare her to Queen Esther and see who is a better woman.

If you've gone this far, then you will know why men fell. These movements not only restricts population but makes men weak. We are not anymore the mighty men that we are. These agenda's run by the Globalists will set the stage for the coming New World Order under the Anti-Christ system.

If you are a real man, then you will know that I don't speak falsehood here. Read the bible and find out. Let us get control of our lives with the help of Jesus Christ. A real man is the head of his family, just as he is under Christ, who is the head of his life. Again, REAL MEN LOVE JESUS CHRIST.
Let us do away with these divisions that cause us to be astray with each other.

IN DEFENSE OF JOHN ROMITA JR.

I know I shouldn't talk a lot about comics but I just need to address this issue. Overtime, there has been a lot of complaints regarding the artwork of one of the great comic artists John Romita Jr.
There has been a lot of talk about how ugly his art has become through the years. They said it's a bit chunky and blocky type. Though I may agree with some of these posts, I really think that there are some things that contributed to it.

I collected comics in the Speculator Boom of the 1990. At this particular period, comic art has been defined by Image Comics, a new company formed by former Marvel comics artists who wanted more creative freedom over their creations. The market then followed art trends from the likes of McFarlane, Lee, Liefeld and others. Soon, Campbell and Turner followed. These fantastic works ofart are what dominated the market at that time. If they don't draw the way they draw, then their art is considered sucky. John JR., who made numerous works at that time, was overshadowed by these hotshots that they never thought that he produced good comics. He worked on a Punisher comic, and had some runs on X-Men and Spider-Man. The first time I looked at his art, since being new to comic collecting, I also felt that it is also ugly. I shied away from comics that he is doing. However, As I matured in my taste of comic art, John JR. did one his best work to date: Daredevil: The Man Without Fear limited series with Frank Miller. His art here was top notch. From the struggles of a young Matt Murdock that lost his sight,to his training with Stick, to his first run-in with the Kingpin, John JR. delivered. Great facial expressions, fight scenes, and even a uniform used by Murdock, that was used in the NetFlix series, He gave strength to Miller's script. See, we were conditioned by the market to follow these so called "Hot" artists and that if they don't draw that way, then it's a fluke.

Another factor is that John Romita Jr. also works really fast. He never skips a monthly title and keeps up with the schedule. he does his best to render the pages clearly. This maybe one of his pitfalls though, as he maybe giving us more of a layout type of art, in which I agree with some critics of his art being lazy. He does not do full detailed pencils, and relies on inkers to do the art for him. Thisn however, cannot be faulted to him as the editor oversees everything before the final product rolls out. He still has the last say on this. The editors should have demanded John tighter pencils rather than let inkers work their magic. Klaus Janson, for my opinion did a really great job, but in issue 7 and 8 of the Punisher War Journal series, Mike Manley and some other inkers did the inking job. The result: a thing of beauty. Also, John did an amazing job on that series, specially issue 7. Other series or storylines that he did great art was the Incredible Hulk: Return of the Monster story arc. The silent issue is one of his bests, as he detailed how the Hulk transformed while inside a car, ripping the car to shreds.

This is John Romita Jr. in a nutshell. For me, he is one of the best artists in the industry. Sure, he has misses, but doesn't everyone have? They say he rendered Superman really bad, but didn't he have a run with Thor? If he is doing bad art, shy is he still working. I guess that the editors should encourage him to give more tigther pencils, and pay more attention to details. And yes, since he draws faster than others, he maybe also missing out on some important details. Let him be advised not to do quantity over quality.

WHO AM I? (PERSONAL TESTIMONY)

Hi! If you're new to my blog welcome!!! Let me give you a brief introduction of myself. My name is Brian Luciano, 44 years old and working as an Online English Teacher. I live in a one bedroom apartment with my wife of 9 years (Mau) and our lovely daughter, Pia, (2 years old). I have been working this job for almost 9 years now. This is not my dream job however.

I have always wanted to be a writer. As a young boy, I grew up reading American comic books which somehow helped me develop my speaking and reading skills. I was always enamored with the stories of Spider-man, Superman,Batman, etc. I spent a lot on my massive comic book haul. For me, this was my escape to realms unknown. These stories formed into my mind, and one day I told myself I wanted to write my own stories. This was my dream job.

My comic book collection became on and off, until I wasn't that eager anymore. Possibly because the comic stories were not that as appealing as it was before. I now searched for new stories to pick up on. Television, movies, documentaries, magazines and other publications became my sources, which further sharpened my talents. But unlike when I was reading comics on a regular basis, the stories and ideas became very jumbled that I wasn't able to write anything. Not to mention an increase in workload and a new role of being a father, this simple faded away.

It was on the 26th of February 2016 that my life changed. I was raised Catholic until that day. Everyday, I taught that I was living a Christian life. Until that fateful year of 2015 when my family suffered economic hardships bought about by the transition of our life as parents. My wife had to quite her job to take care of our baby, leaving me the sole person working. We then moved out into a cheaper place to stay. It was an uphill struggle for us. I even have to do part time work in the office just to make ends meet. My mom and my in-laws helped us with my daughter's first birthday party, and I knew that everything was ok. It was December of 2015 that I noticed that there is something wrong in my life. There was this emptiness that I felt. That stems from the fact that I was living without Jesus Christ. I decided to follow him, but not immediately.

It took me 42 years of my life to find him. I studied the bible and little by little got to know him. But there was something missing. My wife has not yet accepted Jesus Christ as her savior, but she was ok with the idea of us not anymore attending Catholic Church masses. Yes, we stopped being Catholics around May of 2016. It took her until around June of that year to be converted. We finally looked for a church to have fellowship with.

We got into one of the mega churches here in the Philippines. At first, we thought that it was good until after just 3 Sundays we noticed that we were not growing in the faith in Christ. We decided to change churches. We instead went to our landlady's church. We also studied the bible by ourselves and have regular sharing topics with the bible.

So that's me in a nutshell. I will try to be more liberal in this page and talk more about topics that I want to talk about. It can be my interests or even topics that I discovered as I read. Anyway, thanks for supporting my blog.

WONDER WOMAN: NOT REALLY SOMETHING TO WONDER ABOUT

The latest buzz on the movie right now is Wonder Woman. Yes, this is the first time that a movie starring a female superhero was a hit among moviegoers. Debuting in the movie Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice, she fought alongside the main heroes. This movie is her first feature film, and it got more audiences than her previous one. She will also be starring in Justice League, DC's answer to the Avengers movie where different heroes band together to fight a common threat.

Now before people label me with names please know that this is my personal take on the issue of Wonder Woman. This is by no means bashing the character. This is somewhat an expose on issues involving the character of the movie and how it ties in to modern day issues of today. Again, I am already out of the comic book fandom. I couldn't care less what happens. If people reading this will just see me as a guy just bashing DC Comics because I like Marvel more, then I will also make an expose on a Marvel movie I watched. If you think that way, then STOP RIGHT HERE!!!

Now, the reasons why I don't find Wonder Woman Wonderful:

1, )  The choice for the actress-  Gal Gadot, according to most people is perfect for the role. Beautiful,sexy and strong, this former Miss Israel candidate served in the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces ) for some time. It makes the role fit her like a glove you would say. Wrong!!! Hollywood is mostly run by Jews. Do you think that there are more qualified actresses to play the lead role more than her? I think so, too. See, the Jews are practically running America. Her being in a lead role begs us the question that there will be a bigger agenda for Israel. Imagine, casting an Israeli for the main role, and you get more exposure for the country. Don't want to believe me? There are countries like Lebanon banning the movie because of Gal Gadot's service in the IDF and also Tunisia suspending the movie. See, there are some revelations that the Jews are the one that will bring about the New World Order. If you have been following what I have written here, then her starring in a main role means how the Devilish Hollywood will soon control the minds and hearts of people. This Israel is not the Israel of the bible. It is the Israel of the New World Order, and elite group of people that will bring about the rise of the Anti-Christ.

2.) The Feminist Movement-   with a woman being a lead character in a big blockbuster movie, feminists around the world have cheered that women can do what men can do, even better. There has been a push for this movement in the latter parts of our times, and women getting more and more active with politics and other affairs. They now become leaders of countries, pastors,successful people, all the while forgetting their most important role in society: Being a Mother. Yes, my dear friends, this is the main role that women were meant to do. They were never meant to have a high status in society. It does not however, remove the importance of being a mother and wife since she is meant to support her family. What the feminist movement is doing is making her forget about being a mother, thus without guidance the children grow without a guide in life. Also, Eve was tempted by the serpent first, which means that the woman sinned first. That is why the women is only to be subject to her husband, not the other way around. In the Bible, It was the evil Queen Jezebel that moved King Ahab and the nation of Israel to sin. She was so wicked that an evil spirit names after her inhabits most women today. I have my encounters with this Wicked Spirit that possessed my wife and tried to destroy my family.  Take heed and be careful, specially the women who does not want to listen to their husbands and who speaks in front of men when they are instructed only to be silent.

3.) The Queen of Heaven- still with me? Now the last part. Yes, the Queen of Heaven, that great idol being worshiped in Ephesus. In the bible, the Book of Acts, Chapter 19 make mention of Paul's journey in Ephesus, In which a certain man in Ephesus named Demetrius told that Paul has said unto them that there are no other Gods that are made with human hands. They also said that the temple of Diana should be destroyed, in which the people cheered " Great is Diana of the Ephesians". The creator of Wonder Woman also made reference to Diana, thus it is not a coincidence that her name is Diana Prince. See, this character is based upon a pagan Goddess worshiped a long time ago. Diana is one of the incarnations of the Queen of Heaven. Still need more proof? Look at her Tiara and see the symbol for yourself. Oh by the way, did I forget to mention that they practice human sacrifice? There.
The so called Queen of Heaven provokes god to anger, as she is an idol made by human hands, and have caused many people so turn away from Jesus Christ.
    
These are my reasons why I don't find Wonder Woman wonderful. Whether you agree with me or not is entirely up to you. Also, try and do your own digging as well. I have given my life to Jesus Christ, and he is the only person I have looked up to since. I pray that if you have gotten this far, to rebuke this false idol and get back with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

THE BEST COMIC BOOK CREATOR (FOR ME)

Okay, most of you maybe thinking, why he is writing about comics again. Well, again small talks are topics that I want to talk and write about. I will write less of this in the future. But let me just get this off my chest. (my next comic related topic may not be so good for most of you....stay tuned).

I have been asked who is the best creator in comics. Names have began to float. There are creators that made really over the top stories and really some deep intense ones. There are creators that blew up worlds, or they are just crazy and over the top.

Some creators that we have in mind are Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Carmine Infantino (Silver Age) to Brian Bendis, Mark Millar, Geoff Johns (Modern Age). Honestly, for me there's Jim Lee, Alan Moore and Frank Miller. But none of them compares with the man I condsider the best: JOHN BYRNE.

Yup, him. Why him? I have read some of his works and I have a collection of it. Byrne does his best whether he is the writer/artist or simply the writer or penciller. His panels really breathe life into the character. His characters react as if they are real people. What is good about him is that they are not rendered dark and gritty like how some characters are. His masterpiece, The Dark Phoenix Saga,(which he co-plotted the story with longtime X-Men writer Chris Claremont), remains one of the best stories in all of comicdom. Of how Jean Grey attained godlike powers and the X-men tried to protect her, culminating in her bitter end. The epilogue also saw the leaving of one character and the debut of one character. He also handled the adventures of Marvel's First Family, the Fantastic Four. He breathed new life into Marvel's First Family, rebooting the entire series. My favorite story was issue 233 titled "Mission for a Dead Man",  a solo Human Torch story in which he investigates a dying man's request of a crime he didn't commit. Johnny Storm was able to solve the case, but the mother of that person said that he got what he deserved since she told Johnny that he is a hero while his son is not. And this is just his second issue!

He also moved to DC Comics, and is responsible for breathing new life in the Post Crisis version of Superman. He gave a breath of new life to the character, and in my opinion one of the best stories written for that character (The Last Superman Story being the best). Over in Dark Horse comics, John Byrne's Next Men is his mature work. It combined the world of superheroes with other issues that are relevant at that time. JBNM was released at the time when Image Comics dominated the market, in which there is a lack of solid storytelling but focused mainly on art. This series definitely stands out.

Byrne is a creator that can work as both writer and artist. He is also one of the artists in my period which has a lot of artistic credits, rivaled only by John Romita Jr. His volume of work, the consistency of his story and art makes him one of the very rare people that has changed the landscape of comics that we had.

So, that's my favorite comic book creator. Who's yours?

THE BREAD OF LIFE

Bread.........I love it!!!! Breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner.....anytime of the day I love it. With ham, jam and anything in between. Bread is my life. Literally.
See, I am not much of a rice person. I don't know why. But bread if different. Not to mention that it is one of the oldest food in the world. But how is it made?

It is said that it is made using a milling of some grains (wheat, barley, etc.) mixed with liquid (oil or water) and a leavening agent (for it to rise) the baked in a very hot stove or oven. The result is a crusty golden shell with a soft interior. It has been a staple food for many years, and in some countries it still is until today.

In the Philippines, bread is eaten every breakfast or snacks. It is not eaten as a main meal,as the staple here is rice. But me and my wife have found ways of making it part of our daily meals. We thank God for two things: for letting us buy an electric oven and for giving my wife knowledge of breadmaking.

It was a self study for her. Little by little she studied patiently on how to ferment the yeast, the measurements, the mixing of the dough, the first rising, the forming and the proofing before baking. Each one needs to be precise, and that's why we thank God for it. She was able to produce different kinds of bread, from bagels to dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, Spanish bread, etc. She was also able to sell some it. For me, this is something that I always look forward to.

I don't want to go too religious here, but isn't the bible called the Bread of Life. Imagine if we call it the rice of life, or the corn of life? Yes, bread feeds, bread heals, bread makes us full and bread gives life. Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for being the Bread of Life, and for giving us our daily bread.

IDOLS OF THE HEART

We all grow up admiring someone or something. As a child, we admire our parents or our teachers. Growing up, we start to admire different media personality. Furthermore, sport teams and men and women  of high stature. But sometimes these admiration then turns into something else. It already becomes an obsession for us.

I am guilty of this. In my younger days I am a big fan of American comic books. I am amazed at the stories of heroes like Batman and Daredevil and other heroes. I spent most of my allowance collecting these things. As I earned my own money, my collection increased. And somehow this became an obsession for me. I got depressed when I was unemployed since I can't buy them. I quarreled with my brothers regarding this. In the end, most of them are just gathering dust. They are not read anymore by me.

Another one that I am guilty of is when I was in my old religion. If there is something wrong, I will pray unto saints(dead people anointed by the Pope of Rome) to act as intercession for my prayers. Not to mention the praying of the rosary to the Blessed Virgin Mary (THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN). These were the abominable practices of idolatry I have done, of course the usual bowing to the statues. I am happy that I am saved by Our Lord Jesus Christ from these things.

I also noticed that idolatry is very strong in my country. The two main media outfits here will produce show after show featuring good looking entertainers in different programs. They are literally being worshiped by the adoring masses who have no idea of who they are. As also a basketball crazy nation, professional basketball players rank on top with politicians as well. I then asked the question why is this so?

Aren't these people also the same as we are: flesh and blood? They breathe the same air we do, they sure eat the same food we do, then why worship them? When we think of idols, we always think of statues of stone and wood being bowed down by Catholics. This is not the case anymore. Let's go back to the beginning.

Let us remember that when the Israelites occupied the promised land the people of that land practiced idolatry. Thus it was necessary for Joshua and the Israelites to purge them all to rid the land of their abominable practices. When Joshua died, the people went and worshipped idols.

Some people are thinking that there is nothing wrong with it? Some might contend that if that were the case then don't have a picture of your family in your computer. That we are just admiring them. At first this maybe the case. but as we all know the media pumps them out thus through mind control these idols replace God in their hearts. They have that longing for them more than God. You know the ultimate idol created by the devil: YOURSELF.

Yes, the selfie generation. Post a selfie or a groupie, post in social media, the instant idol worship!!! Why does everything have to be about us. And don't tell me that this is harmless. Paul's second letter to Timothy states that:

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 

      2 TIMOTHY 3:2-5 

If this is not happening now, I don't know what is. In closing, I pray thee my brothers and sisters to heed the call to go back to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us stop being idolaters or giving in to idols. Confess, believe, be baptized and study and read God's Holy Word. Also, try and gather with a group of believers. Let what we do today be not for any other reason but to serve his Holy name.

CHRISTIANITY WATERED DOWN

Hi! It's me again. It's been a long time since I got back to my blog. There are a lot of things that I have on my mind thus I wasn't able to write a blog. OK, I just got distracted with a lot of things that I didn't have the time to write something. But I guess the fire just got back to me, thus this blog.

I haven't been a Christian for that long. I have been converted just last year after leaving the Roman Catholic religion. But despite this, I did my best to study the bible. I read it carefully, nourishing God's word. I was guided by the Holy Spirit in my journey to know,understand and love my Lord Jesus Christ. I was at last free from traditions of men that was with me when I was still in the old system. I also looked for a church that taught the bible, and I found one near the place where my family is renting. She is also our landlady.

At the beginning, the fire in me is lit. I attended the activities despite being busy. No sooner than that, on March 18 of this year me and my wife were baptized with water. I have always wanted this since I wanted to share what I have learned and thus save a lot of souls. In short, I have put my trust in man, not God.  

I am looking for a hellfire and brimstone teaching since I have observed and perceived that we are nearing the end times. I constantly and patiently wrote a blog about it on why we need to study the bible. Turns out, I have been waiting in vain. Though we tackle about the spoken word, there is no mention of the end times. Instead, the things of this world are more of the concern. How to save, thith e (which is a tradition of men), health, prosperity. Wait a minute!! Is this a prosperity gospel? I mean, what is the use of this if we are near the end.  

Also, our lead pastor is a woman, (also the associate pastor as well as almost all the workers in the church), a move that got me questioning since there is a specific bible verse regarding the conduct of women in the church. There's also a music ministry composed of youth from the province, who also doubles as co speakers when she is on a trip.  I thought that she told us " the church is our training ground and that we are bound to speak to other members in the future". How can we be trained if we never get the chance to speak up. What ever happened to that baptism?

Last Sunday was the straw that broke the camel's back. As our pastor was gone, our associate pastor took over. When she finished, I gave way to other speakers to speak before me. As I was about to speak, I noticed that most of the people were gone and that one of them ended the service. The fire I had in me was doused. I was furious and when I told our associate pastor if I can speak up next Sunday, she told me that it is up to them, (the youth music ministry).

This is the current state of the churches today. We can see how Satan has hijacked the churches by watering them down. The match that was lit and put into dried leaves can start a forest fire. But if you spray water in them, the fire dies down and does not consume the pile. Gone were the hellfire and brimstone teachers,

I am saying this because there is a need for us to to "go fourth and preach the gospel to the four corners of the world".  We are note mere bystanders, but as frontsmen. We should be well equipped with the tools and weapons needed for our spiritual growth. Our church is the one that will provide us that.  I am saddened that this is not the case.

However, I will prevail with the help of the Holy Spirit. I will do my best to seek his will, and to find  a church that will help in my spiritual growth. I am more than willing to learn. A lot may think that I am just overeager or I am doing this to prove that I am much better than others. However, this is not the case. I will find ways of how I will reach people and share the love of Jesus Christ to all people.

BATMAN IS AN OVERRATED SUPERHERO

It has been along time since I gave up reading superhero comics. A true conversion in our Lord Jesus Christ and some Christian channels on youtube helped me kick the habit. I am writing this one last time to just address this issue. Again, welcome to my world.

Batman has been one of the most iconic characters in American comic books. A tragedy left young Bruce Wayne to pursue a life of fighting crime in the streets of Gotham City. He cloaks under a shadow, uses a suit modeled after a bat, a night creature, and strikes fear in the heart of criminals. There is nothing vert special about him, other than he has a very good fighting skill and wit. He also has an array of weapons and vehicles at his disposal. He likes to operate alone, and in the night. There's Batman in a nutshell.

But what really made him very popular? It's actually the wealth of stories that stream from his character. Yes, you guessed it- his creators. Batman was hyped up by a group of people who gave him his dark, menacing and cold personality. Comic book writers and artists like Alan Moore, Frank Miller, Grant Morrison, Brian Bolland, Neal Adams to name a few all gave Batman the hero he really is. Outside of comics, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, Kevin Conroy, Tim Burton, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale and Chris Nolan gave us popular cinematic and animated versions of him. From fighting Dracula to opponents like the Joker, Batman has it all. They say that he can even defeat Gods?

I am one of those people that admired him. I have his best stories, watched his great animated series and movies and really enjoyed the last Batman trilogy by Nolan and Bale. But as the years passed, I noticed something from fans of the series. It's like Batman became a god incarnate for them. Most of them are literally worshiping him. Like if it's not a Batman story, it sucks. I was even outraged at one youtube video that attacked another superhero, calling him sucky because he didn't have many stories to tell. If I wouldn't be banned from the channel I would've given them a piece of my mind.

Here's my beef with the so called CULT OF BATMAN (what I call obsessed fans). He is nothing more than a guy in a batsuit, that's it. Let's be clear on that. Yes, he is master martial artist, great detective, etc., but he is just a normal person like me and you. He does not have super strength, flying, shooting laser beams or webs, climbing ability, healing factor, etc. HE'S JUST A GUY IN A BATSUIT. There's nothing special about him.
It's your creators that made him great. You treat him like he can save the world by himself. He can be taken down in a close quarter combat by any person possessing extra ordinary powers. Your creators just won't let him because it will piss the cult followers thus translating low sales for the comics. So stop obsessing. It's only you fans that made him that. Other than that, he's just a regular guy.

I don't hate the character, but I'm well annoyed by fans who thinks he's the best out there. His stories are made by people to entertain you, bit make him a God. As for me, my Batman comics and other superhero comics are where they are: in storage. I never read them anymore.

WHO IS THE REAL VICTOR IN THE EDSA REVOLUTION

The EDSA Revolution of 1986 has made a mark in history as a bloodless revolution that toppled a dictator of almost 25 years. The Filipino people were placed in the map, and the world began to recognize us again. But looking back, did we really achieve something in EDSA? And more important, whose victory was it?

Most of us are taught about EDSA and how it made the Marcoses the bad guys in the story. There were stories about various human rights violations, illegal executions and imprisonment of political opponents, mounting insurgency and extreme poverty in the country. We can say that the country is really in a bad shape. Thus, like the French Revolution, this was ripe. Sides were chosen, and democracy was restored.

Monuments were erected in the places where it all happened. imagine that the monument that was erected where the revolution happened is a very big statue of the Virgin Mary. When I was still a Catholic this was just fine, even though I don't approve of the revolution. Heck, I even hear mass in the chapel in that place if we have the time. The monument symbolized the role of he Virgin Mary in the EDSA Revolution. According to them, the priests and the nuns prayed the rosary and held vigils thus the soldiers didn't fire upon the people. So to put it, the Catholic church made a key role in the revolution.

I left the Catholic religion last year with my wife. I also read the holy bible faithfully and followed the teachings of Jesus Christ. Then I stumbled upon a youtube video. The video is about the false practices of the Catholic and Orthodox religion. The video was divided into three parts. The last part was the one that caught my attention. It has something to do with the worship of the Queen of Heaven.

The opening part of that chapter if from the book of the prophet Jeremiah 7:18 " The children gather the wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me to anger".     

Now any Catholic would know that Mary is called the queen of heaven. Coincidences, or is this a different one? The Catholic priests will argue that it's not her, and that this pertains to Diana, Semiramis or any of the pagan goddesses that the Kingdom of Judah worshiped. But here's where wisdom comes in. If that were the case, then why call Mary, Jesus' earthy mother, the queen of heaven? More importantly, where in the bible is it found or written?

And if that is the case, then the EDSA Revolution was not won by the people, but by the Catholic church. And if the monument to the revolution if the statue of Mary, then it was not god that granted us the victory in EDSA, but a pagan goddess. Sure some people will say there is a real monument to EDSA, and it's a bit further than where it stands. Still, here's my main point. Please, I urge you to listen to the voices in your hearts.   

The EDSA Revolution was spearheaded by the Catholic Church. As we all know, from the Spanish era down to the current era, the Catholic Church is known to have meddled in the affairs of state. They are more powerful than the wold rulers. They manipulated the masses (majority of which are Catholics) to revolt against the government. Also, if it's really the people's victory, then what is that gigantic statue of a pagan goddess doing in there. It just showed us that the victory belonged to her, and her church. We also would have to note that the government at that time was besieged by coup-de-etats. Down the line, the country still struggled to move unto this day.

The words of the prophet Jeremiah still rings in my head until now. It showed that the real victor is the queen of heaven. They say that we are the only christian nation in Asia, but that's not the case. We have incurred God's anger, so we must put and end to it.We must at least take down that idolatrous statue, destroy it like how Moses destroyed the Golden Calf, and pray back to God.

In closing, EDSA didn't accomplish what it meant for the Filipino people. It is a revolution used by the Catholic church to strengthen it's hold on the country, and to put a monument of their goddess in us. People still offer prayers to her even though she does not warrant it. And again, instead of us getting god's favor, we just proved him to anger. 

I pray that we go back to our lord Jesus Christ, and I also pray for the conversion of the entire country. Again, these are my thoughts. Each of us has a voice in this world, these are mine. Feel free to read and discuss them with me.
